Betelgeuse is an iris perfume from In Astra, named after a red supergiant nearing the end of its life. Perfumer Sofia Bardelli set out to interpret its disappearance, the moment before the star explodes into a supernova.

Coriander opens the scent. In the heart, osmanthus brings a fruity note with a hint of peach, her way of painting the fiery color of the star, beside a powdery iris. The base of oak moss and coffee is darker and slightly bitter. For the perfumer, the meeting of oak moss and iris marks the passage of the star into a new cycle of life.

Betelgeuse sits in the floral family, and the house recommends it for fall. The eau de parfum comes in a 50 ml (1.7 fl oz) bottle, and the Discovery Set includes a 2 ml vial of it.
